"Overshooting warming targets will irreversibly impact vulnerable communities and fragile ecosystems. While greenhouse gas emissions reductions should remain our top priority, we must prepare for additional approaches, possibly including sunlight reflection methods, which carry their own risks. We do not have the regulatory instruments to ensure responsible, transparent, and legally permissible research and deployment of such technologies. The independent Climate Overshoot Commission will address the critical gap of governance, and promote inclusive and science-based decision making."

Mr Jamshyd N. GODREJ is the Chairman of the Board of Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. Mr. Godrej is the former Chairman of Ananta Aspen Centre, Chairman & Trustee of Ananta Centre. He is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, India Resources Trust, Council on Energy, Environment & Water and CII Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre. He is a Director of World Resources Institute, USA. Moreover, he is a Trustee of the World Wide Fund for Nature in India, and also a Trustee of the Asia Society in the USA. Also Mr. Godrej is a member of the Board of Governors of the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society, and the past President of Confederation of Indian Industry and also of the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association. The President of India conferred on Mr. Godrej the “Padma Bhushan” on 3rd April 2003.
