TUKO: Paris Agreement: Climate Change Stakeholders Warn Against Continued Global Warming

  • The one-day event sought to explore how the private sector can contribute to national and global efforts to future-proof food security

  • The panel was also tasked, in some sense, with withholding the global average temperature below 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming


Nairobi - Ahead of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, (COP28), stakeholders met in Nairobi to deliberate on how best to tackle the issue of climate change.


COP28 will be held from November 30 until December 12, 2023, at the Expo City in Dubai.


On Wednesday, May 3, the Kenya Private Sector Alliance in partnership with the Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and the Climate Overshoot Commission held a high-level panel to discuss global strategies on climate change solutions.


The purpose of the high-level meeting

The event held at the Villa Rosa Kempinski, Nairobi sought to explore how the private sector can contribute to national and global efforts to future-proof the food and agriculture industry, and how intersectoral approaches can support reducing the risks of climate overshoot.


It was attended by high-level officials, and members of the Climate Overshoot Commission including Felipe Calderon (former President of Mexico), Kim Campbell (former prime minister of Canada), and (Arancha Gonzalez Laya (former minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain) among others.
